Hello everybody,
Let’s discuss one of my latest design projects. The class was Photography and the theme was fashion. The first thing I thought was, “I don’t want to use any people or live models”. Choosing American Eagle underwear was a simple choice because I can’t wear any other underwear except their brand. No other brand compares with their comfort, fit and style. So why not give them some love? Right? I tried to stay away from the whole Victoria’s Secret/David Beckham oiled up and stripped down glory shots. So I started playing around with what shapes I could create by folding the underwear, while keeping the integrity of the American Eagle brand.
Recently I’ve been thinking about how to better associate my imagery with my typography. And in a very Sagmeister kind of way I thought, “why not make the imagery the typography?” I think this brings a whole new dimension of design into play instead of the generic layering of typography over images. By integrating elements of design such as type and imagery, I think the audience can see my personality and design sense more clearly. I see a lot of potential in this idea for myself. I’m still working on it though. Anyways, the full project can be found here. Thanks for stopping by and more to come real soon.
